Women’s leadership network growing in Lloydminster

A women’s leadership community is growing in Lloydminster. Ignite YLL Women’s Leadership Network was created by Startup Lloydminster, Community Futures and local women leaders as a way to inspire and develop more leadership.

“It’s a space for women or local leaders to get together and share experiences and learn from each other,” says Startup Executive Director Tess Wack. “We really are focused on inspiring mentorship and connection in our community.”

The network started about a year ago has since put on events to increase the number of women in their community. Their latest event “A Night in the World Cafe” will take place on September 13. The event will start out with some networking opportunities and then go into discussions with the women in the room.

“It’s gonna be held in a world cafe style which people will go from table to table with different questions that will pose to the attendees and it’ll spark some discussions. We’ll come back together at the end and go over everybody’s thoughts and maybe see if there are any actions that come out of it,” says Wack.

The network’s last event “A Night at the Museum” looked back at leadership in the community and this next event will look at how leadership currently is. There will be another event to follow that will look at leadership in the future.

Wack says the network revolves around leadership and growing leaders in Lloydminster.

“We also like to stress that everyone is a leader and you can lead from where you stand. You don’t need to have that leadership title behind your name, you can be leading in all aspects of your life.”

“A Night in the World Cafe” will take place at Synergy Credit Union. Tickets are available online for $20 each.
