Battlefords RCMP arrest two, one wanted in home invasion

Battlefords RCMP members have arrested two related to a home invasion with guns on Saulteaux First Nation. Mounties responded to a report of the home invasion on Sunday, April 7 around 10 p.m. A suspect vehicle was found leaving the area and RCMP conducted a traffic stop. Two were taken into custody for a number of gun and criminal code offences.

The RCMP says simultaneously a third subject came from a nearby yard threatening police with a machete. Mounties say he then picked up what appeared to be a sawed-off gun and continued to taunt police to engage him before running off. This subject was identified through police investigation. Twenty-four-year-old Jordy Moccasin and 36-year-old Malcolm Moccasin have been remanded in custody and will be appearing in Battlefords Provincial Court on Tuesday, April 9 9:30 a.m.

They face a number of charges relating to weapons, property and driving offences. The Battlefords RCMP asks the public’s help locating 29-year-old Dwayne Katcheech who is currently wanted in connection to this incident. Katcheech is 6 feet tall, 190 lbs., with short brown hair and a heavy-set build.
