CFB Wainwright will not be putting on 2020’s Maple Resolve Exercise due to COVID-19 concerns.
In a release sent out to the towns surrounding the base, it was announced that the international program, which brings around 5,000 soldiers annually from across Canada, the UK, France and other countries to the midwest would not be moving forward for the safety of members on base and the wider community.
CFB Wainwright says that it’s the right move to not only reduce the risk of COVID-19 in the area but also to secure the health of members so that they can respond to other requests for help across western Canada, such as spring fires or floods.
They plan currently to go ahead with Maple Resolve 2021 and other fall training but will continue to update the public should that change.
