Unemployment rate continues to increase in Lloydminster regions

According to Statistics Canada, the job markets on both sides of Lloydminster are still feeling the effects of COVID-19 as unemployment continues to rise.

In the Prince Albert and Northern economic region, the rate was 10.8 per cent in June, up from 9.4 the previous month. The rate is unadjusted for seasonality. Provincially, the unemployment rate in Saskatchewan jumped to 11.6 per cent, an improvement from 12.5. The provincial rates were seasonally adjusted.

In Camrose-Drumheller, the Alberta economic region which includes Lloydminster, the rate rose from 10.4 per cent in May to 12.8 in June, unadjusted for seasonality. In Alberta, the rate stayed at 15.5 per cent, seasonally adjusted.

Nationally, the unemployment rate dropped from 13.7 per cent to 12.3.
