The Federation of Canadian Municipalities has announced the recipients of the 2016 Sustainable Communities Award and there’s a winner in our region.
The Village of Marwayne is receiving an award for the Center Street Revitalization: From the Bottom Up project, under the category of Neighbourhood Development.
Municipalities are recognized for delivering innovative solutions in six different categories: brownfields, energy, transportation, waste & water, and of course, neighbourhood development.
The results of such initiatives at the municipal level achieve more integrated community planning, as well as economic, social and environmental benefits.
The award recipients will be formally recognized at a special ceremony Wednesday, February 10th at the FCM’s conference in Ottawa.
