Lloydminster Bobcats add new Assistant Coach and AGM to the team

The search for a new Lloydminster Bobcats Assistant Coach/General Manager has come to an end.

The team announced on July 22nd that Carter Duffin will join the Bobcats fold in the upcoming season. Duffin spent the last three seasons in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League as the Head Coach & General Manager of the Castlegar Rebels.

Before that, the Red Deer native was the Director of Hockey Operations and Assistant Coach with the SJHL’s Estevan Bruins, in a season that saw them make their way to the league finals. He also coached in Alberta with the U15 AAA in Red Deer and took part in the Alberta Cup twice.

Head Coach and GM of the Bobcats Nigel Dube says they took their time to find the right person for the job, and he calls Duffin “eager to learn, dedicated to the game, and willing to work with the players in reaching their goals on and off the ice.”

Duffin comes to the team ahead of their Bobcats Hockey School, beginning the middle of August. His coaching tenure will start there. He’ll have a busy first few weeks behind the bench from there, with the  Bobcats main camp on August 27th and pre-season play on September 1st.

Dube adds that the team is excited for Duffin to get to town so the team can get to know him, and he can get to know the community as well while exemplifying the core values of the Bobcats.

The Lloydminster Bobcats season opener is September 18th against the Bonnyville Pontiacs.
