Bordertown H.O.G Chapter ready to ride once again for 10th Toy Run

The Bordertown H.O.G Chapter is gearing up for the 10th Anniversary of their Toy Run, and a return to form for the event.

With last year’s pandemic restrictions having put a damper put on the physical gathering part of the event, the motorcycle group opted to call that one “Year Nine and A Half” and have a lower key ride and fundraiser.

With those restrictions largely eased in the Border City, the chapter is bringing back the gathering breakfast, all the motorcyclists will be riding together and the dinner cabaret is back, with a performance by The Dirt Rich Band.

Toy Run Co-Chair Chris Leibel says their event is open to everyone, not just those who ride motorcycles.

“The pancake breakfast is by donation, come down to Denham Chrysler for that. As well, if you can’t ride, there’s a few options you can do. Buy your wristband in the morning, that gets you the supper and the cabaret, or if you just want to do the cabaret on its own, there’s going to be tickets for sale separately.”

All of this begins at 9 AM on Saturday, September 11th. Registration for the ride starts at 10 AM and kickstands go up at Noon sharp. Dinner is served at 6:30, followed by the Caberet beginning at 7:30 PM.

The funding from the event goes to several local charities, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lloydminster, The Lloydminster Youth Centre, KidsSport Lloydminster, The Goat’s Christmas Wish and Ronald McDonald House of Edmonton and Saskatoon.

In the decade they’ve run the event, The Bordertown H.O.G Chapter has raised over $500,000 for these charities. Bordertown HOG Director Corey Tavener says he’s thankful for the people of the city, who’ve come out time and time again to support the Toy Run.

“All I can say is this wouldn’t be possible without the community support. We’ve had excellent support from around the community and the surrounding area, and you know what, we’re just the facilitators of the event. It’s the community that really makes it go.”

People can buy tickets at Darv’s Autobody, Sprio’s Restaurant and Denham Chrysler, or by using the Bordertown H.O.G Eventbrite link for the cabaret tickets.
