One person has died following a serious multi-vehicle crash just outside Wainwright.
On April 12th, at approximately 1:41 p.m., Wainwright RCMP and emergency services responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 14 near Range Road 81, west of town.
Preliminary investigation indicates a head-on collision occurred between a van and an SUV, resulting in one fatality. A second person, with serious injuries was air lifted by STARS Air Ambulance to hospital in Edmonton. Highway 14 was closed in the afternoon and traffic was diverted around the scene of the accident.
Wainwright RCMP along with an RCMP Collision Analyst continue to investigate how and why the vehicles came in contact with one another head-on.
The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time.
