Gold Horse Casino holds grand opening this Thursday

The Gold Horse Casino is holding it’s grand opening this weekend starting on Thursday. The three-day celebration will feature live entertainment by Aaron Goodvin, The Trews, James Barker Band as well as free cupcakes. Colleen Lewis, Marketing-Guest Services Manager for the GHC, says the GHC will feature a new kind of game for the province.

“New to Saskatchewan is electronic table games. So if people aren’t comfortable playing at the live game tables, they can play their own blackjack, roulette or baccarat on their own personal game table,” says Lewis. The 18 electronic game tables are the first of their kind in the Saskatchewan gaming market, being introduced at the GHC.

The GHC’s soft opening last month featured a ribbon cutting by a number of special guests, including Mayor Aalbers, MLA Colleen Young and Little Pine First Nation Chief Wayne Semaganis. The 48,000 square foot entertainment venue also features 250 slot machines and 5 live table games.

The GHC is the seventh casino under the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA). It falls under a profit-sharing model that distributes a majority of the profits made back to the province’s First Nations communities. President and CEO of SIGA, Zane Hansen, is excited about the opening of the GHC and how it will benefit Saskatchewan communities.

“GHC is the newest member of SIGA’s family of casinos and Lloydminster’s premier entertainment destination. GHC’s and all of SIGA’s casino operations allow us to share success with Saskatchewan communities. A non-profit organization, all of our net income goes back to our beneficiaries—Saskatchewan’s First Nations, community development corporations, and the province,” says Hansen.

The casino will host a number of prizes to win, including two trips to Las Vegas and free slot play in Daily Hot Seat draws. The GHC is open Monday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m., and Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 a.m. SIGA’s family of casinos includes Bear Claw Casino & Hotel, Dakota Dunes Casino, Gold Eagle Casino, Living Sky Casino, Northern Lights Casino, and Painted Hand Casino.
